♞ Kriegspiel Fog of War Chess
In Kriegspiel, you can only see your own pieces — not your opponent's. You learn about opponent moves through announcements: captures, check directions, and illegal move notifications. Three variants: Classic, Lovenheim (adds square-occupancy queries), and Rochester (announces pawn capture squares).

How to Play
- You see only your own pieces on the board. The opponent's pieces are hidden.
- When you attempt an impossible move (e.g. move a bishop like a knight), you hear "Impossible!"
- When you attempt an illegal move (blocked by an invisible piece), you hear "No."
- When a capture occurs, both players are told the square.
- When you are in check, the direction is announced: vertical, horizontal, long diagonal, short diagonal, or knight.
- Ask Pawn Captures? to learn if any of your pawns can capture — but if the answer is "Yes!", you must attempt a pawn capture next move.
- Lovenheim variant: ask Occupies? to learn if any specific square is occupied.
- Rochester variant: when you attempt a pawn capture (legal or not), the target square is announced.
